Utsukushi-ga-hara-kogen Highlands: an outdoor museum in Japan

They are not only the hot springs that attract tourists in the national park chushin Yatsugatake Kogen Quasi, near the city of Nagawa, Japan. In the area that is north of the park, in fact, on top of a vast lava plateau, they have created a very special artistic outdoor itinerary. Up there, at about 2000 meters above sea level, the view comes to cover most of the Japanese mountains and from the vantage point called Ogato you can also see Mount Fuji. When you get tired of looking beyond the horizon you can devote to works of art scattered on one side of this area as vast as quiet and sparsely inhabited.

The Utsukushi-ga-hara Kogen Art Museum exhibits some 400 works of art, a permanent exhibition that has a very lush nature as a background. Among the many strange installations there are: zebras with no legs and head, very stylized motorcycles, angels dancing on top of cylindrical columns, huge boots and inverted pyramids, there is also a character recognizable and familiar, which is very similar to our Don Quixote.
